Rosh Pinah Geo Center offers geological and historical trips around Rosh Pinah, Namibia

The Rosh Pinah Geo Center offers geological and historical trips to interesting localities in the close or wider vicinity of Rosh Pinah.  The Geo Center exhibits minerals and rocks from the Rosh Pinah and Skorpion Mines, as well as from the wider Namibia, as well as information material on Geology, Mining and Processing Methods of the local mines.

The Center also explains geological and geomorphological processes responsible for the formation of certain rocks and minerals which has taken place millions of years ago. A small corner is reserved for some insight into the San (bushmen) history of the area. The center houses a mineral exhibition room with lighted glass showcases and a veranda.

Day trips or trips up to 5 days can be booked. The tours include visits to the old Lorelei copper mine, glacial depositions close to Sendelingsdrift, San caves and graves on Namuskluft Farm with wonderful San rock engravings and first multicellular fossils on Earth. Looking at volcanic rocks at the Spitskop Volcanic Center. 

Visit to the Alte Kalköfen Lodge with its historic lime ovens and Lithoparium. Heading on from there to the Fish River Canyon Park and looking into a geological wonder. Over-night stop is at Norotshama River Resort and the next morning heading back to Rosh Pinah visiting a historic diamond mine along the Orange River bank which gives the opportunity to collect some agates and learn all about the deposition of alluvial dia-monds

It is of great scientific, historic and educational importance to conserve geological and geo-morphological interesting sites and features.

Almost everything on our earth was created or shaped by geological processes, e.g. spectacular landscapes, strange geological features, deposition of economic mineral deposits and the most beautiful crystals. Human life was always deeply influenced by the geo-diversity of an area.
